National Specialty 2001 Report and Results (By Steve Tillotson)
The National Specialty for 2001 was held at the Sheraton Brookhollow Hotel, Houston Texas 0n 14 Nov. Judges were - Dogs; Judge Sandy Weinraub, Bitches and Intersex; Betsy Hufnagel. A Welcoming Cocktail Party was held Friday night. There was a good turnout of vendors with nearly 20 vendor trade stands set up, so lots of goodies to buy. Saturday hosted the AHC Dallas regional Specialty, Sunday hosted the AHC Greater Houston regional speceiality. Monday saw the start of the AHCA National Specialty with Obedience and Triathlon events, both proving entertaining and popular with the spectators. Sweepstakes followed, all rounded off with a cocktail party and raffle/auction Tuesday saw the ASFA Lure Coursing trials. lATER AN educational seminar occured, the presenter was Dr. Kit Kampschmidt giving a presentation on frozen and fresh chilled semen as a means to breeding. Wednesday we enjoyed the dog judging, Judge Sandy Weinraub's winners being WD, Tifarah's First Rate Act RWD, Mahali Kendal Jackson. Dog judging was followed in the evening by a Disco, at which the owners/handlers showed they can move too! Thursday morning Harry Bennet led the AHCA'S Judges Educational Seminar which was well intended and is such a valuable Seminar for aspiring judges. In the afternoon Betsy Hufnagel judged bitches, here main winners were WB, Khafka's Too Good To Be True, RWB, Arcana Emmy Award Of Dion. Friday, Betsy Hufnagel judged the Intersex, main results were - BOB, Ch Thaon's Wannadance, Lightly campaigned but has achieved considerable success. BOS, Ch Shenandoah Pistol Blue. BOW, Khafka's Too Good To Be True, who was accompanied by her owner from Spain where this Afghan is the #1 Sighthound.
