In the same 1930 edition of "De Hond" there is a memorial to Longina of Liang Tsjeoe, fawn, black mask, bitch, born 12/8/1928 (Rajah Secundus of Cove x Champaka De Flandre). The memorial states that Longina was overcome by hound disease - "hondenziekte" (Distemper) in 1930 at the young age of 1 1/2 years. (Ed Note: We are searching for a report written by Mrs Jungeling (Barukhzy) that the Liang Tsjeoe kennel was practically wiped out by "hondenziekte" in 1930. What a tragedy and one that most likely impacted Mrs Terstall's ability/desire to continue breeding. Distemper was a major problem everywhere at this time and it surely ended the breeding program of many other promising breeders). The owner of Longina was apparently J D L Mante of Sligelandt House, Groenoord, Leiden, Netherlands who was clearly saddened by the loss and wrote - "She had already won many ribbons at exhibitions. We went in May with her to the St Hubert exhibition in Brussels (Belgium), where she was the first ever Afghan hound exhibited in Belgium. She was extraordinarly intelligent, so loyal and so sweet. We have enjoyed her enthusiastic Afghan hound antics. We will be pleased to give information to anybody interested in purchasing such an exotic beauty". Ed -A lovely tribute..
